Renewable Fuel Buses
Experience, safety and reliability make Ventura Coaches the company of choice.
The Ventura Group was the first Australian Public Transport Operator to introduce ethanol as an alternative fuel, with plans to extend our fleet to alternative fuelled vehicles in years to come.
Ventura was the first bus company in Australia to introduce totally renewable fuelled buses.
With Ventura having always been a pioneer of alternative fuels such as LPG and Charcoal, the attractions of Ventura to ethanol include:
- Environmental concerns of CO2 emissions and the depletion of fossil fuels and non-renewable energy sources
- Supporting rural employment through the sugar cane industry
- Reducing Australia’s reliance on imported fossil fuels.
Ethanol is a flammable, tasteless and colourless chemical compound. It can be produced chemically from ethylene or biologically from the fermentation of various sugars from carbohydrates found in agricultural crops and cellulosic residues from crops or wood.
CSR Distilleries Operations Pty Limited produces ethanol by the fermentation of sugars in molasses, which is a by-product of the sugar milling process. The sugars are converted to alcohol using yeast. The alcohol is
then separated from the fermented wash and is processed and purified through a series of distillation columns to produce ethanol with a strength of approximately 96% by volume (95SG).
