Today the two-tone blue buses of the Ventura fleet are a familiar sight carrying over 25 million passengers a year across more than 31% of Metropolitan Melbourne but the company began in more humble circumstances.
On 24 December 1924, Harry Cornwall purchased a 14 seater Reo for £816 and placed it on the multiple operated route between Box Hill and the City. Six years later, he applied to operate between Box Hill and Mentone, a route which traversed dirt tracks linking semi rural areas. This route continues to be one of the company’s major passenger services.

Ventura Coaches has maintained a proud history of pioneering alternative fuels, and places a high emphasis on maintaining and improving our environment. In Ventura’s early history it pioneered a trial of gas powered buses and in more recent times became Australia’s first owner of ethanol buses.
All our coaches are registered with Green Fleet which offsets our emissions by establishing biodiverse native forests. This means that the forests contain a mixture of native tree species that reflect the original forest structure prior to the land being cleared.
